Recommended fabrics: lightweight fabrics of natural and blended fibers.

You will need: shell fabric, invisible zipper, trim fabric for front and neck trim, tough tape (like for pants bottom) 0.75 cm (1/4") wide, button.

Attention! Fabric consumption varies depending on the size of garment. First of all, print out paper patterns and lay them out at the width of fabric/ knit you plan to use, to see how much fabric you will need.

When sewing the garment, pay attention to notches- they must coincide.

Note: You might want to use shell fabric for lining parts as well.

Cutting:

Shell Fabric:

1. Center Back – 2 pieces
2. Side Back – 2 pieces
3. Center Front – 1 piece
4. Side Front – 2 pieces
5. Draping – 1 piece
6. Neck Part – 1 piece
7. First Tier – 1 piece
8. Second Tier – 1 piece
9. Third Tier – 1 piece
10. Fourth Tier – 1 piece with fold
11. Fifth Tier – 1 piece with fold

Lining:

1. Center Back – 2 pieces
2. Side Back – 2 pieces
3. Center Front – 1 piece
4. Side Front – 2 pieces
5. Neck Part – 1 piece

Instructions:

1. Sew center back seam, princess seams of Back and Fronts of shell. Serge seam allowances, press them towards center.

2. Cut tape into 6 even parts. Sew pieces of tape to allowances of princess and center back seams, from the top edge down.

3. Sew center back seam, princess seams of Back and Front, right side seam at pieces of lining. Serge seam allowances, press.

4. Make folds at the Draping. Staystitch the folds at the center front line and along side edges. Baste Draping to the top edge of Front and to side seams.

5. Sew right side seam, serge allowances, press them towards Back. Sew tape to the right side seam.

6. Sew side seams at all skirts from the notch for zipper down to the bottom. Insert all skirts one into the other. Staystitch all skirts together at top edge, matching side seams.

7. Line up top of dress with skirts face-to-face, stitch together at waist seam. Serge seam allowances, press them upwards.

8. Turn under and press to the wrong side allowance along zipper closure. Baste and sew zipper into the opening. Press.

9. Line up dress with lining face-to-face. Turn out lining 5 mm (3/16”) off the zipper seam, pin to the top edge of dress. Turn out to the face side allowances along zipper closure, pin to the top edge of dress, on top of lining. Sew together top edges of shell and lining. Understitch the seam. Turn the lining down, sew to allowances of zipper tape. Stitch in the ditch of the waist seam to attach bottom edge of lining.

10. Serge bottoms of all skirts. Turn under and topstitch bottoms of skirts at 0.5 cm.

11. Finish Neck trim part with its lining. Mark and work buttonhole as per pattern, sew button.
