Recommended fabrics: lightweight fabrics of natural or artificial fibers.
You will need: shell fabric; lining fabric (you might want to use the same fabric as for shell); invisible zipper; fusible interfacing.
Attention! Fabric consumption varies depending on the size of garment. First of all, print out paper patterns and lay them out at the width of fabric/ knit you plan to use, to see how much fabric you will need.
When sewing the garment, pay attention to notches- they must coincide.
Cutting:
Shell fabric:
1. Back – 2 pieces
2. Center Front – 1 piece
3. Inside Front – 2 pieces
4. Shoulder Strap – 1 piece
5. Front Skirt Panel – 1 piece
6. Back Skirt Panel – 2 pieces
Lining:
1. Back – 2 pieces
2. Center Front – 1 piece
3. Inside Front – 2 pieces
Instructions:
1. Reinforce pieces of top with fusible interfacing.
2. Sew Inside Front to the Center Front. Serge seam allowances, press towards Inside Front.
3. Sew Front to Back at sides. Serge side seams, press towards Back.
4. Assemble pieces of lining in a similar manner. Serge lower edge of lining.
5. Fold shoulder strap piece lengthwise in half, face side inside, and stitch at 0,5 cm (3/16”) from the fold. Turn out and press the shoulder strap. Sew one end of shoulder strap to the neckline of Front. When you put the finished dress on, adjust length of strap and sew another end to Front.
6. Sew side seams of skirt. Serge allowances, press towards Back. Sew center back seam of skirt from the notch for zipper down to the bottom. Serge center back seam allowances separately and press them open, as well as allowances along the opening for zipper.
7. Sew top to the skirt. Serge the seam; press towards top. Baste and sew zipper to back opening.
8. Line up top and lining face-to-face. Turn under lining around zipper closure, 0.5 cm off the zipper, pin to the neckline edge of dress. Sew top of dress to lining at top edge. Understitch the seam. Turn the lining to the wrong side, hand-sew to the zipper tape.
9. Stitch in the ditch of waistline seam to attach lining to dress.
10. Serge bottom edge of the dress, turn under hem allowance and topstitch at 0,5 cm (3/16”) from the bottom edge.
